Session 03

This session is due on Wednesday, May 8th before class.

This assignment should take <= 4h. As this assignment is open-ended, it is up to you to manage your time.

Tilings

Task 03.01 - Script (Optional)

If you are interested, read Chapter 05 - Tilings.

Task 03.02 - Tilings Implementation

Use the Motion Design Plugin to create a repetitive structure. It doesn’t need to be a tiling in its formal sense but also shouldn’t be too chaotic, e.g. with noisy particles.

The Plugin is fairly well covered in the official documentation, with the chapter about Cloners and Effectors being the most relevant. There are also various YouTube tutorials, e.g. Unreal Engine 5.5 Motion Design Tutorial: Animators & Shockwave Effector, RedefineFX, Unreal Engine Motion Design ~ Using Multiple Cloners and Effectors.

Note: I am having issues with performance and crashes with the plugin. If the plugin doesn’t run at all on your computer, please let me know, and we find a solution.

Submission: At least one image of your resulting pattern (an Unreal screenshot is still fine), linked in your .md submission file. If you started with given code or a give setup, briefly explain your changes.

Learnings

Task 03.03

Summarize your learnings (text or bullet points - whatever you prefer). What was challenging for you in this session? How did you challenge yourself?

Submission: Answer in your markdown submission file.

Answer all questions directly in a copy of this file and also link and display all of your images in that file. Submit your copy as pgs_XX_lastname.md in your submissions folder (replace the XX with the number of the session).
